Tokyo 42 gets a release date
Mode 7 and SMAC are excessively excited to announce the release dates for the hyper-stylish isometric open-world shooter Tokyo 42 on PC and Xbox One: May 31st and on PS4 in Mid-July. Have a look at the bizare 4.2 second trailer below.
Now if you didnt get a full understanding from that brief trailer, Tokyo 42 is an isometric shooter, with open world elements. Its highly stylized, and reminds me of the look of early 90’s internet. The games main mechanic is letting you play as either a gone toting crazy person, Rambo style, or a shadow hugging assasin, like Agent 42. In case that doesnt get the idea across the game bills itself as “the lovechild of Syndicate and GTA 1”. Honestly I cant wait to give this game a try. It will be difficult I feel to not compare this game to the recent spate of action heavy, kill friendly, Hot Line Miami clones, but its possible with effort and good art to stand apart from that seminal work. It also helps that there will be multiplayer.
