You are Edith Finch, the last remaining member of your once great and eccentric family.  You have returned to your family home in Washington state, to explore the history of your family and why you are the only Finch alive.  What Remains of Edith Finch, is a beautiful story driven walking simulator from Giant Sparrow, which dives into the human condition with elegance and grace.

As Edith Finch you explore the rooms of your family home.  Each a room sealed and preserved after the death of one of your family members, and you must uncover the secret passages in the home to enter these entombed rooms.   Once inside, you interact with the items in the room until Edith is swept up into the tale of that family member.

Each story you participate in is as varied as the family member.  The art style, narrative and tone change for each family member that really make you feel as though you are that person.  Each story ends when you experience that family member’s death.

What Remains of Edith Finch manages to touch on loss, mental health, love, and death without being overly melancholy or dramatic.  The story telling and narration immerse you in the environment and push you to explore more of the house.  You are left at the end of each story affected and thoughtful.

The entire game is played in first person perspective, and on average is completed in less than three hours.  You will probably have to play it more than once to get all the achievements, but each play through new details will be discovered.  What Remains of Edith Finch is $19.99 on Steam, Xbox One, and PS4, and it is recommended to get it on sale for the best value.
